The
Law Society's activities include:
-
guiding members of the public on matters touching, ancillary or
incidental to the law by commenting in the media and also issuing
statements or press releases;
-
working with other regional and international organisations and
international bar associations in upholding the rule of law, independence
of the legal profession and the judiciary and democratic governance
and other issues of public interest;
- conducting
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) for its members, through conferences,
workshops and seminars;
-
participating in trade, consumer protection issues, among others,
with the aim of influencing legislation;
- analysing,
monitoring and responding to the activities of Government in particular
where matters of law are concerned;
- making
submissions to the Malawi Law Commission from time to time on
various areas of the law that require to be amended or repealed
and sitting on Special Law Commissions;
- dealing
with complaints against lawyers;
- conducting
information sharing activities; and

promoting access to justice through developing legal aid services
